Have you ever returned to recreate a perfect memory only to find that everything had changed?
Last year while exploring Yangshuo, China, a rural village dog led me up a mountain to watch the sunrise. The experience was so magical that, six months later, I came back with my camera, hoping to retrace my steps and find her again.
But this time, the weather had changed, the landscape felt different and the dog had a life of her own.
Beneath my determination to recreate that morning was something more personal—a reason I felt so drawn to this dog and this place. I was chasing more than a beautiful view or another photograph.
Come with me as I return to the mountain and discover why some experiences—and some friendships—can never be recreated.
