So, now that the disclaimer is out of the way, how did this happen? Well, we bought a piece of professional cable TV broadcasting equipment on eBay and used it to create our own low-power pirate TV station inside the house, because collecting and restoring vintage televisions was apparently only Phase One. As for Phase Two? I'm the Captain, now.
In this video, we connect a Blonder Tongue analog TV modulator to a teeny tiny antenna, broadcast Back to the Future on Channel 4, test the signal on a collection of old television sets, buy rabbit ears in 2026, and discover whether a 1973 Canadian Mountie quarter can fool a coin-operated TV.
Our station has one movie, a broadcast radius of roughly fifty feet, and a technical department consisting of me staring at blinking lights and making decisions with a screwdriver.
